Prerequisite: Successful completion of English 11
English 12 consists of a study of world literature and an extensive series of expository writings. A variety of genres, such as poetry, epics, drama, short stories, novels and nonfiction, will be studied. The course offers many elements and skills that students will utilize after graduation, including rhetorical writing, note-taking, study skills, and reading comprehension.
The goals of the 12C course are identical to those of other 10th Grade classes. The pace of this course is adjusted to meet the needs of students requiring additional reinforcement of basic skills. Major readings may include The Hunger Games, The Things They Carried, and/or Frankenstein.
