ELA 7 - Mr. Spicer
What do I need to bring to class?
Students are expected to bring completed homework assignments, a pen (blue
or black), paper, a three-ring binder with paper, agenda, Writer’s Notebook, a
highlighter, and any required texts/novels each day.
Where can I find my homework assignments?
Homework assignments are written on the “Homework Board.” Students are
expected to copy these assignments in their agendas as they arrive to class each
day.
What should I do if I do not understand my homework
assignment or something discussed in class?
1. Ask the teacher a question in class.
2. Ask a classmate.
3. E-mail a question to Mr. Spicer. I can not guarantee that we will be able to
return your email before the next class.
May I hand in assignments late?
No. Homework is expected to be completed to the best of ability and handed in
on time. I understand that every once in a while even the best students may
experience circumstances that prevent them from turning in assignments on
time. For some assignments, students will have the opportunity to hand in a
written explanation for lateness (which has been signed by a parent/guardian).
For other assignments (and in the case of habitual lateness), students may
receive partial credit or no credit at all. Repeated lateness will result in a
parental conference.
Do you offer extra credit?
Yes! Students can earn up to three extra 100 grades to be added to their
quarterly average by participating in the “Extra Credit Independent Reading
Program.” Ask the teacher for other extra credit opportunities. Please remember
that extra credit only helps if all required assignments have been completed to
the best of ability and handed in on time.
